Meet Dr. Lanie

Joel A. Lanie, DDS

Hi! I am Dr. Joel Lanie. I was born and raised on the south side of Indianapolis, I began Lanie Family Dentistry in 2016. I graduated from Roncalli High School and did his undergraduate studies at Indiana University Bloomington where I graduated with High Distinction in Biology.
I graduated from the Indiana University school of dentistry at IUPUI and practiced in Westfield, IN for 6 years before taking over for Dr. George Kopko in Bargersville and opening Lanie Family Dentistry.

I continue my education through the American dental Association, Indiana dental Association, the prestigious Dawson Academy, the Seattle study club, and the Paragon program.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Ashley and our three children. Outside of Home and Work I can usually be found at our local gym District 135 Fitness.

Born and raised on the south side of Indianapolis, I began Lanie Family Dentistry in 2016. My hobbies and interests, include running, mountain biking, landscaping, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. My wife and I enjoy traveling and trying new things particularly food!

When it comes to dentistry, I present all options available for our patients to achieve lasting oral health with treatment plans customized to the individual’s needs, rather than the one-size-fits-all approach. A big part of what I enjoy about being an independent dentist is being able to provide relief to patients who are in pain, help give them beautiful smiles, and assist them in achieving better overall health.

Continuing my education has always been important to me. My training at The Dawson Academy has expanded my treatment views to include more than simply helping our patients when they come in with specific concerns. This includes recognizing the signs of an unstable occlusion in order to ensure our patients have healthy teeth for the long term, as well as a focus on the oral-systemic link; the connection between gum health and prevention of systemic inflammation which can be harmful to a patient’s overall health.

I have received The Dawson Academy’s award for Concept of Complete Dentistry for completing their core curriculum and continues completing courses through the academy every year. I continue to earn 2-3 times the required continuing education required by the state every cycle. Through my continuing education, I have been able to expand treatment options for our patients. In 2013, I completed additional training on Lumineers, which is a more conservative approach to full veneers, and in 2014, I completed training in Six Month Smiles, a clear braces system.

I am a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry at IUPUI and Indiana University with High Distinction in Biology. I am a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Indiana Dental Association (IDA), and the Indianapolis District Dental Society (IDDS).

I originally took over the practice from Dr. George Kopko and received the warmest of welcomes from the Bargersville community and existing patients at the office. I continue to be dedicated to providing the community excellent high-quality dental care.
